In order to comply with safety regulations and to avoid hazards repairs of electrical appliances must be carried out by qualified personnel including the replacement of the power cord If repairs are needed please send the appliance to one of our customer service departments The address can be found in the appendix to this manual

Thermal safety cut-out The preset thermal safety cut-out protects the heating element from overheating should the appliance be erroneously switched on without any water or if the heating element is calcified Once the safety cut-out has switched off the kettle it must be allowed to cool down sufficiently or must be descaled before it is switched on again

Before using for the first time ·

For reasons of hygiene discard the first three filling of water

Boiling water

Never remove the water container from the base (or replace it) while the appliance is switched on

Remove the water container from its base

Release and open the lid and fill the container with water to the desired level observing the Min. and Max markings

Before closing the lid and placing the container back on its base ensure that the appliance has not yet been switched on

Insert the plug into a suitable wall socket and press the On/Off switch

The boiling process begins After reaching the boiling point the appliance is automatically switched off by the integral steam cut-off device

If you want to interrupt the boiling process set the On/Off switch to its Off position To pour hot water remove the container from its base

To prevent hot steam from being emitted ensure that the lid remains closed while pouring out the water

Descaling Depending on the water quality in your area lime deposits may build up on the heating element It is advisable to remove any such deposits at regular intervals A mixture of 0.5 liters of water to two tablespoons of vinegar essence is suitable.

Pour the descaler in

Switch the appliance on and let the solution reach boiling point

Leave it to take effect for a short period

To clean the container after descaling rinse thoroughly with clean water

Do not pour descalers down enamel-coated sinks

General cleaning and care ·

Before cleaning the appliance ensure it is disconnected from the power supply and has cooled down completely

To avoid the risk of electric shock do not clean the kettle and the base with water and do not immerse them in water Do not clean under running water

For cleaning a slightly damp lintfree cloth may be used

Do not use abrasives or harsh cleaning solutions and do not use hard brushes for cleaning 5

Disposal Do not dispose of old or defective appliances in domestic garbage; this should only be done through public collection points

Remarks The instructions for cordless kettles shall state that the kettle is only to be used with the stand provided This appliance is intended to be used in household and similar applications such as:
staff kitchen areas in shops offices and other working environments;

farm houses; by clients in hotels motels and other residential type environments.
