or its sur roundi ng par t is scr atched , spl it or

dam aged due to ot her reasons .

Air Bag for Driver and Front Passenger

Air bag system is a supplemental restraint

system (SRS), which is a supplement to

the seat belt. The system can provide an

additional protection for the head and

chest of driver and passenger in a frontal

crash and reduce injury and death.

The air bag syste m can not take place of the

safety belt, for it is just a part of th e whole

passive safety pro tection system in vehicle.

Additi onally, please be noted that the air

bag system brings into its larg est protective

System Component

Air Bag Warning Lamp

SRS air bag system includes the following

assemblies, whose positions are shown

in the above figure.

1. SRS warning lamp

2. Front pas se nge r ai r bag assembl y

(air bag and air charging dev ice)

3. Driver air bag assembly (air bag and

air charging device)

4. Air bag ECU (Electronic Control Unit)

It consists of a safety sensor and safety

air bag sensor.

The air bag system, monitored by ECU, has

a self-diagnostic function. It indicates the

system status through the warn ing lamp

on the instru ment panel:

● After the ign ition switch is turned on, the

air ba g warni ng lamp ligh ts up for abou t 5s,

and the n goes out. In this case , the syst em

is no rmal.

● If th e air bag has been closed by

sta ti on , warn ing lamp will be always on when

turning on the ignition switch, which means this

syste m provides no pro te ction at th is moment.

Lifan serv ice

The warn ing lamp system is to monitor the air

bag ECU, fro nt seat safety belt pretensioner

assembly, air charging device, warning lamp,

wirin g and power supply (S ee Section 1-5

“Mainte nance Indicator and Warning Buzzer”

for detail).

SRS

● The warnin g la mp will light up again

afte r the igniti on switc h is closed.

● Warn ing lamp can not go out after 5s

or twinkles again and lights up aft er

going out when turning on th e ignition

switch.

● Warning lamp can not light up

when turning on the ignition switch.

The following situations indicate that

the air bag system has troubles or

has been closed.

● Warning lamp twinkles or lights up

when driving.
